Mr. Rice opened the meeting at 7:00 PM.
Mr. Lawson, Zoning C.E.O. gave report.
Mr. Sena, Town Board Councilmen gave Town report. (See 9/9/2019 Town Board minutes)
AIRCRAFT LANDING
Mr. Lawson suggested amending our current aircraft law rather than coming up with a whole new law. Mr. Lawson said he thinks we just need to state, “no landing aircraft in the R1 district”.
Mr. Rice said we need to specify landing strip also includes a helipad or any piece of land used to land any type of human occupied aircraft and that it should be 1000 feet away from any dwelling. Mr. Rice said we need to include except for emergencies. Mr. Rice said to just add no landing strip for planes, ultralights, no helipads for helicopters or for any vertical take off or any advances within 1000 feet of any occupied dwelling.
The board questioned if drones should be included. Mr. Lawson said they don’t have any worries about drones at this point.
Mr. Rice said we need to amend the existing law in section 635 in the Zoning law and change the distance from 300 feet to 1000 feet. Mr. Lawson said right now our Zoning law says where you can land but not where you can’t.
Mr. Lawson thinks we need to exclude or not allow any aircraft landing in the R1-R3 and TC1-TC4 and any other districts will be by special use permit.
